After watching the College Signing Day event hosted by Better Make Room and broadcasted on Twitch, I enjoyed every minute of it. To Nick Cannon’s hilarious comedy to Michelle Obama’s inspiring speech, it made me really emotional that so many people were involved. I have been watching Ninja lately on Twitch, I was very happy to see him appear as a guest on stage to speak with the audience. He explained that his brother is a teacher and advocates for higher education regularly. I talk with clients often that are in roles such as Superintendents, IT Directors, Principals, and Teachers. I have a new appreciation for their role as they are the faces that will push forth students that are willing and with passion for what they wish to pursue after high school. It’s very humbling to be a graduate and I’m very happy to see a community that supports the push for making room and accepting students in all variety of programs. Thank you so much for the event, Better Make Room, and all of the staff and guests attended. I’m looking forward to next year!

Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher-Better Make Room initiative inspires every student in the U.S. to take charge of their future by completing education past high school. Reach Higher-Better Make Room meets students where they are (on social/digital/streaming platforms) to build a college-going culture and make it easier for students to apply and attend college.

Washington, DC — On Wednesday, May 2nd, Reach Higher hosted the 2018 College Signing Day with former First Lady Michelle Obama at Temple University. The event will be held at the Liacouras Center with 8,000 students from across Philadelphia’s public, private, charter, and parochial schools. This is the fifth consecutive year that Mrs. Obama has celebrated College Signing Day.

College Signing Day celebrates high school seniors choosing to pursue higher education at a professional training program, a community college, a four-year college or university, or the military and continues Mrs. Obama’s efforts to inspire young people to pursue their education past high school. In addition to Mrs. Obama’s event in Philadelphia, hundreds of College Signing Day events have been planned in nearly every state across the country by communities, students, and organizations committed to helping students pursue higher education.
